Global Microbial Supply Chain & Industrialization Manager(m/w/x)
Redesigning microbial product supply chains and building global capability for a leading agriscience company. 10-15 years of global supply chain leadership in fermentation and bioprocess operations required. Shaping safety legislation and culture, stimulating international environment.
Requirements
- University degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related technical field
- Senior professional with 10–15 years relevant industry experience, including senior/global supply chain leadership in complex, international organization
- Minimum 3–4 years senior supply chain management experience, ideally in end-to-end, global, or matrixed environments
- Proven technical or operational background in fermentation and/or bioprocess operations
- Deep understanding of fermentation processes, microbial strain stability, downstream processing, contamination control, and biological variability
- Demonstrated experience with microbial-based supply chains, including upstream and downstream bioprocess manufacturing
- Experience working with external bioprocess partners and CMOs, including contract, performance, and relationship management
- Strong leadership and influencing skills, ability to drive outcomes through influence in cross-functional, matrixed environments
- Ability to thrive in high-ambiguity, fast-paced, evolving context, track record of leading change and building new capabilities
- Proven experience in strategy development, deployment, and end-to-end scenario thinking, translating strategy into executable supply chain solutions
- Solid knowledge of quality management systems for biological products, including shelf-life management and regulatory expectations
- Strong financial, commercial, and business acumen, ability to balance technical, operational, and strategic priorities
Tasks
- Ensure efficient implementation of new product introductions
- Redesign established supply chains for microbial products
- Build and lead a global supply chain capability
- Establish a global end-to-end supply chain function
- Integrate the supply chain function into Syngenta’s ecosystem
- Develop and lead a global supply chain team
- Provide direction and coaching to team members
- Mobilize cross-functional teams at scale
- Ensure reliable and sustainable microbial supply chain operations
- Account for biological variability and fermentation challenges
- Manage contamination risks and shelf-life considerations
- Define Syngenta’s manufacturing and sourcing strategy
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Technology & Sourcing
- Collaborate with Process Technology & Engineering
- Design and operate robust, cost-effective supply chains
- Focus on security of supply and quality
- Optimize total cost and asset network
- Develop global capacity planning strategies
- Meet short- and long-term volume and growth requirements
- Provide supply chain leadership to commercial teams
- Contribute to in-licensing opportunities and M&A evaluations
- Advise on biological research and technology ownership
- Facilitate Sales & Operations Planning processes
- Balance demand and supply
- Monitor end-to-end KPIs
- Drive continuous improvement and change agendas
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards
- Adhere to HSE, corporate governance, and quality standards
- Promote sustainability initiatives aligned with Syngenta’s targets
