Electro-Mechanical Technician(m/w/x)
Maintaining and testing electro-mechanical DC switching systems at CERN. Soldering low voltage components and ordering parts required. 30 days paid leave, 2-week annual closure.
Requirements
- Initial experience in Electricity, Electrotechnics, Electronics or mechatronics
- Basic knowledge in electricity, electrotechnics or electronics
- Technical skills in mounting/dismounting mechanical parts
- Soldering of low voltage components, PCBs, connectors
- Good communication skills for information sharing and technical support
- Ability to write reports and conduct validation tests (advantageous)
- Knowledge of measurement instrumentation, debugging, providing solutions (advantageous)
- Spoken and written English or French, learn basics of other language
- National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State
- Max two years professional experience post-graduation in relevant field
- Never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before
- Not eligible if holding Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree
- Work in Radiation Areas
- Interventions in underground installations
- Valid driving licence
Tasks
- Inspect and maintain electro-mechanical DC switching systems
- Install and test new equipment
- Execute performance validation tests
- Produce specific test equipment
- Order components
- Mount and unmount electro-mechanical parts
- Service electro-mechanical parts
- Assemble interface cables
- Assemble mechanical structures
- Contribute to CAD design of components
- Assemble backplanes
- Test and debug electronic circuits
- Support component procurement
- Maintain high current energy extraction systems in the LHC
- Inspect and maintain mechanical components
- Measure and correct geometrical parameters
- Measure and fine-tune electrical characteristics
- Execute individual system tests
