Requirements
- Software development skills (mostly Python)
- Comfort with Linux systems (baremetal and container environments, Kubernetes)
- Demonstrated Git experience
- Demonstrated teamwork experience
- Python programming (required) or Go programming (bonus)
- Proficiency in Web frameworks (e.g., Flask) and REST API design
- Linux system administration skills
- Containers and K8s (required) or Helm charts (bonus)
- Spoken and written English
- Commitment to learn French
- Nationality of CERN Member or Associate Member State
- Professional background: MSc or PhD in Computing (or related field)
- Master's degree with 2 to 6 years post-graduation experience OR PhD with no more than 3 years post-graduation experience
- No prior CERN fellow or graduate contract
Tasks
- Develop Python software for Rucio and CERN IT services
- Integrate and interface with distributed storage systems
- Operate Linux-based machines and Kubernetes clusters
- Operate large-scale data management systems
- Contribute to infrastructure operations
- Handle incident response
- Provide user support
- Develop authentication mechanisms for Open Science data export
- Integrate Rucio with Open Data Portals
- Design new APIs
- Contribute to the upstream Rucio project
