Associate Director, Accounting, Europe(m/w/x)
Directing European accounting operations, payroll, and 3PL data entries for a clinical-stage oncology firm. 5 years global biopharmaceutical industry experience, 11 years multinational accounting, and 3+ years people management required. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 11 years progressive accounting experience (multinational/regional scope)
- Minimum 5 years global biopharmaceutical industry experience (scaling finance Europe)
- 3-5+ years people management experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and European statutory reporting
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) in multi-entity environment
- Ability to manage complex close processes across multiple countries
- Hands-on experience with SOX compliance and internal controls
- Fluency in English; additional European languages a plus
- Strong project and change management skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, handle simultaneous assignments under tight deadlines in fast-paced environment
- Superior attention to detail and commitment to timely, accurate work
- Ability to work collaboratively and utilize resources effectively
Tasks
- Lead European accounting operations and close processes
- Ensure accurate financial reporting
- Review monthly European payroll and liabilities
- Prepare or review payroll accounting entries
- Prepare monthly cash, AR, revenue, and gross-to-net entries from 3PL data
- Assist with EU intercompany and transfer pricing
- Ensure timely intercompany invoice generation and payment
- Accurately record intercompany transactions
- Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and local GAAP
- Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements
- Manage statutory accounts, audits, and filings
- Maintain and enhance internal controls
- Maintain and enhance SOX compliance
- Maintain and enhance accounting policies
- Partner with Tax, Treasury, and FP&A teams
- Collaborate with external advisors on complex accounting matters
- Drive accounting process standardization
- Drive accounting process automation
- Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes
- Serve as key contact for external auditors and regulators
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members
- Support entity setup initiatives
- Support system implementations
