Requirements

  • 6 years relevant experience with Undergraduate degree
  • 5 years relevant experience with Graduate degree
  • 4 years relevant experience with Doctorate degree
  • Information Management, Archival Management, History or other relevant Field degree
  • Archives/Record Management Certificate/License (essential)
  • 6 years experience in archives and records management
  • Experience with Enterprise Content Management systems
  • Sound operational knowledge of office automation
  • Experience with electronic records management
  • Experience with digital archives
  • Knowledge of current digital archives trends, tools, best practices
  • Familiarity with archival metadata standards
  • Sound knowledge of Digital Preservation theory and practice

Tasks

  • Design and implement digital preservation strategies
  • Manage UNHCR’s digital preservation projects and services
  • Develop and apply records management and archives policies
  • Implement and administrate digital preservation platforms
  • Create and apply records schedules for physical and digital records
  • Develop and implement digitization strategies for physical records
  • Assist HQ and field units in transferring valuable information
  • Participate in outreach and training activities
  • Facilitate records and archives management policy implementation
  • Advise on information governance for digital and physical materials
  • Train staff on information management and institutional memory
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for records management
  • Oversee the disposition process of records
  • Contribute to MS Teams and Share Point site creation
  • Support Records Management focal points
  • Promote best practices in information governance
  • Identify and provide context for archival materials
  • Manage communications with internal and external researchers
  • Advise researchers on archive availability and restrictions
  • Conduct on-demand research for UNHCR staff
  • Lead declassification activities following UNHCR policies
  • Analyze research trends to anticipate future demand
  • Supervise researchers in the archives reading room
  • Manage archival description and finding aid creation
  • Coordinate catalog development tasks
  • Oversee the web archive service
  • Prepare data sets for pre-ingest
  • Implement the Digital Preservation System (DPS)
  • Manage digital curation and preservation tasks
  • Ingest electronic content into the DPS
  • Develop digital preservation policies and procedures
  • Integrate DPS with other UNHCR systems
  • Manage long-term preservation projects with ITS and external parties
  • Develop initiatives for born-digital materials
  • Identify and manage risks in the functional area
  • Raise risks and concerns to supervisors
  • Perform additional duties related to records and archives management
  • Build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Engage in fundraising and advocacy initiatives
  • Work flexibly within the Records and Archives team
  • Undertake cross-functional duties as required
