- Proven experience optimising large-scale AI/ML systems in production
- Shipped real AI/ML improvements, not just prototypes
- Hands-on knowledge of LLMs and transformer architectures
- Knowledge of LLM deployment trade-offs (quantisation, distillation, batching, caching, RAG)
- Strong software engineering fundamentals
- Python proficiency
- Familiarity with MLOps tooling (MLflow, Weights & Biases, Ray)
- Experience with cloud AI infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Experience with inference serving frameworks (vLLM, TGI, TorchServe)
- Structured, data-driven problem-solving approach
- Define metrics before optimising
- Ability to make clear business case for work
- Good communication skills
- Confidence to influence across engineering, product, leadership
Tasks
- Lead AI performance across the business
- Identify and address inefficiencies in AI systems
- Continuously monitor and test AI performance
- Improve AI efficiency across all platforms
- Maintain and evolve AI performance standards
- Update tools and benchmarks for AI measurement
- Collaborate with product and engineering leads
- Ensure AI efficiency in product development
- Manage AI cost and performance balance
- Stay informed about AI developments
- Integrate new AI knowledge into operations
- Coach and upskill engineers on AI
- Build and lead an AI optimisation team
