Aerospace Material Application Specialist – Coatings(m/w/x)
Optimizing and implementing thermal spray, PVD/CVD, and electroplating for aerospace components. Materials Science degree and aerospace coatings experience required. Focus on long-term R&D projects.
Requirements
- Degree in Materials Science or related
- Experience in aerospace coatings or engineering
- Knowledge of corrosion and surface preparation
- Familiarity with NDE and metallographic analysis
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings
- Experience with thermal spray or vapor deposition
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Detail-oriented with high quality standards
- Excellent cross-functional communication
- Ability to work in regulated environments
Tasks
- Optimize and implement diverse coating processes
- Qualify thermal spray and PVD/CVD systems
- Implement electroplating and anodizing techniques
- Apply plasma and wet spray coatings
- Support application of thermal barrier coatings
- Manage anti-corrosion and wear-resistant systems
- Analyze and solve coating defect issues
- Address adhesion failure and surface contamination
- Provide hands-on support during production trials
- Select materials for composites and superalloys
- Ensure compliance with aerospace specifications
- Develop process documentation and work instructions
- Maintain comprehensive technical data packages
- Support qualification of coating systems
- Validate functional properties with laboratories
- Participate in component design reviews
- Lead continuous improvement for coating durability
- Reduce rework and improve process efficiency
