(Sr.) Engineer for Tire Engineering Design(m/w/x)
Designing tire and wheel systems for next-gen connected and autonomous vehicles. Minimum 3 years automotive industry experience with OEM or Tier 1 supplier required. Work on cutting-edge vehicle technology, collaborating with suppliers.
Requirements
- Degree in mechanical or automotive engineering
- Minimum 3 years of professional automotive industry experience ideally with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier
- Excellent understanding of tire and wheel technologies and associated OEM R&D processes
- Knowledge of tire testing methods, including NVH, durability and performance evaluations
- Hands-on experience with tire supplier collaboration and project management
- Ability to define and analyze tire performance targets, specifications and validation plans
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot tire performance issues
- Excellent communication skills, able to prepare technical reports, proposals and presentations in English
- Preferred experience with advanced tire technologies, e.g. low-rolling resistance, smart tires
- Willingness to travel including mid/long-term trips to Korea, valid EU Driving license B, Software: CATIA V5 / PLM / BOM
Tasks
- Engineer tire and wheel designs for European vehicle programs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for design compatibility
- Prepare concept designs and drive system development
- Prepare EO/ECR documentation and release drawings with suppliers
- Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and purchasing for production readiness
- Scout and develop new technologies with suppliers and at industry conferences
- Propose improvements to existing components and enhance development standards
- Work closely with the R&D Center in Namyang, South Korea
