Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Logistics, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Several years of relevant experience in packaging engineering, preferably in automotive industry
  • Strong knowledge of packaging systems, returnable concepts, material handling, and cost drivers
  • Proven experience in defining and setting up supply chains for various delivery concepts, knowledge of OEM-specific call-off systems within German OEMs is an advantage
  • Experience in cost calculations, business cases, and lifecycle costing
  • Familiarity with lean principles and digital planning tools, e.g. CAD, 3D viewers, simulation software, pack assistant
  • Transparency, teamwork, ability to convince colleagues about new ideas, and ability to work autonomously
  • Proactive, hands-on mindset with ability to motivate and align the broader team
  • Fluency in English and German, strong communication skills
  • Willingness to travel to plants, suppliers, and customer sites

Tasks

  • Lead packaging and logistics concept development during quotation and acquisition phases
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost modeling
  • Perform make-or-buy evaluations
  • Develop and validate packaging cost structures, including CAPEX and OPEX
  • Analyze customer requirements and clarify technical, logistical, and commercial topics
  • Define and validate material flows and packaging specifications
  • Establish line-side supply concepts and inventory strategies
  • Collaborate with engineering, plants, suppliers, purchasing, and logistics teams
  • Drive continuous improvement of packaging standards and costing methods
  • Enhance planning tools for efficiency
  • Support SOP and ramp-up phases, including packaging trials and layout planning
  • Participate in supplier selection and validate packaging solutions for cost, quality, and sustainability
