Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in AAA game development or credit on at least one AAA title as lighting artist
  • Self-driven, responsible, and detail-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • High level of written and spoken English
  • Experience working in a fully remote working environment
  • Strong knowledge of game design and art style
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies
  • Passion for gaming
  • Good understanding of game lighting fundamentals, experience with physically-based rendering pipelines preferred
  • Strong knowledge in lighting pipeline in UE
  • Experience lighting photo-realistic environments and characters with understanding of gameplay implications
  • Knowledge of color theory, cinematography, and strong sense of light and shadow
  • Understanding of node-based workflows, blueprints, and materials inside of UE
  • Understanding of composition and ability to enhance mood by lighting
  • Working knowledge of industry standard rendering concepts and post-processing effects
  • Ability to follow concept/reference and work with a wide range of styles with minimal concept and direction
  • Knowledge of Perforce
  • Familiarity with complex shader networks and techniques, working knowledge of shader languages (i.e. GgFX, HLSL, or Cg) preferred
  • Passion for blockchain and technology

Tasks

  • Define and execute lighting direction for the project
  • Collaborate with tech artists to manage lighting within memory and frame rate limits
  • Assist technical artists and engineers in designing and maintaining lighting pipelines
  • Work with environment teams to light spaces according to production schedules
  • Light game environments and cinematics to AAA quality standards
  • Contribute to the development and placement of visual effects related to lighting
  • Anticipate and identify production challenges for leads and technical artists
  • Research new lighting tools and techniques for efficient and appealing environments
