Lab Manager(m/w/x)
Managing daily lab operations and onboarding new team members at a large research university. Experience with animal research and molecular biology techniques required. Flexible and family-friendly working hours.
Requirements
- Degree in chemical-technical or biological field, or relevant higher education degree or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience in laboratory management or similar research role
- Mandatory experience with animal research; Gnotobiotic experience desired
- Strong expertise in molecular biology, microbiology, flow cytometry, and relevant laboratory equipment
- Sound knowledge of quality standards, efficiency principles, and safety regulations in microbiological laboratory work
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to independently manage and prioritize tasks
- Structured, reliable, and proactive working style with high organizational skills and attention to detail
- Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills and ability to work in international environment
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Very good English and good German language skills
- Willingness to continuously learn and further develop professionally
Tasks
- Coordinate daily lab operations
- Ensure timely completion of lab duties
- Onboard new team members
- Train in lab procedures, biosafety, equipment, and animal protocols
- Manage inventory
- Order reagents
- Maintain cost-efficient stock levels
- Minimize waste
- Organize storage systems
- Oversee annual inventory processes
- Schedule maintenance
- Ensure proper functioning of lab equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized lab environment
- Oversee sample storage systems
- Ensure accurate documentation of samples
- Supervise quality control of reagents
- Collaborate with the data manager
- Coordinate animal facility activities
- Manage colony
- Handle shipments
- Maintain animal facility statistics
- Work closely with the PI
- Assist with budgeting
- Handle large orders
- Manage regulatory tasks
- Handle logistics-related tasks
