Requirements

  • Degree in Economics, Law, or appropriate discipline
  • Professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII) ideally
  • Significant leadership experience in Marine Underwriting
  • Expert understanding of Marine insurance markets
  • Established relationship building with local brokers
  • Strong risk assessment ability for Marine LoB
  • Understanding of policy administration life cycle
  • Expert understanding of legal/regulatory frameworks
  • Excellent analytical and benchmarking skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Expertise in integrating AI into business
  • Fluency in German and English

Tasks

  • Develop and execute the Marine underwriting strategy
  • Align regional strategy with global objectives
  • Provide leadership to the Marine Underwriting community
  • Train and coach experienced underwriting staff
  • Manage complex referrals from regional underwriters
  • Underwrite new and renewal accounts
  • Negotiate terms with brokers and clients
  • Maintain underwriting discipline and regulatory compliance
  • Acquire new business and retain existing clients
  • Coordinate with local Distribution teams
  • Communicate the business line strategy externally
  • Represent Allianz internally and within the market
  • Steer the portfolio to achieve financial targets
  • Involve functional areas in the underwriting process
  • Review performance of the underwriting life cycle
  • Delegate work to ensure high performance
