Government Relations Specialist, Africa(m/w/x)
Coordinating team interactions with thematic centers for Africa's regional agenda integration. 4+ years in international affairs with sub-Saharan Africa focus required. Work with senior government officials and business executives across the continent.
Requirements
- Domain knowledge and experience
- 4+ years professional experience in international affairs, trade policy, economic development, public-private partnerships, or related field, focus on sub-Saharan Africa
- Strong understanding of African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and African trade/investment landscape
- Familiarity with digital trade, digital public infrastructure, and emerging technology governance frameworks relevant to Africa
- Experience engaging with senior government officials, business executives, and multilateral institutions in African context
- Prior experience in or with international organization, think tank, development finance institution, consulting firm, or government ministry desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proficiency in a second regional working language (e.g. French or Portuguese) is an advantage
- Strong project management capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives across geographies
- Manage competing priorities under tight deadlines
- Relationship management skills
- Ability to engage credibly and build trust with senior stakeholders
- Analytical and research skills
- Ability to synthesize complex information into concise, high-quality briefings
- Collaborative and cross-functional working style

Tasks
- Coordinate team interactions with thematic centres
- Ensure coherence with Africa regional agenda
- Liaise with internal teams for Africa agenda integration
- Monitor and track regional commitment delivery
- Flag risks and dependencies in regional projects
- Co-manage Forum Friends of the AfCFTA initiative
- Support AfCFTA implementation and trade potential
- Support ADAPT initiative for digital trade infrastructure
- Facilitate ADAPT pilot rollout in Ghana, Nigeria, and Rwanda
- Perform administrative tasks for community management
- Collect and report data for meetings
- Create and maintain engagement materials
- Manage logistics for high-level meetings
- Maintain accurate stakeholder records
- Act as Forum ambassador in the region
- Advocate for regional context within the Forum
- Cultivate relationships with decision-makers and thought leaders
- Broaden and deepen Forum community engagement
