Anforderungen
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent demonstrated experience
- 5+ years machine design with R&D or product development component
- 3+ years mechanical/electro-mechanical assemblies in manufacturing/automation
- 5+ years advanced CAD design (Inventor preferred) on multiple projects
- Proven track record taking complex products from research to deployment
- Autonomy in fast-moving R&D environment
- Sound engineering judgements with incomplete information
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners
- Strong documentation habits: experiments, decisions, learnings
- Experience with force/torque-controlled manipulation (nice-to-have)
- Experience with vision-guided robotics (nice-to-have)
- Experience with disassembly/recycling equipment (nice-to-have)
- Experience authoring technical specifications for RFQ, RFP, or RFI (nice-to-have)
Aufgaben
- Contribute to the product design and R&D agenda
- Translate research insights into robust machine designs
- Translate AI-robotics requirements into manufacturable machine designs
- Lead the full R&D cycle for mechanical sub-systems
- Explore concepts for mechanical sub-systems
- Conduct feasibility studies for mechanical sub-systems
- Develop functional prototypes for mechanical sub-systems
- Validate designs for mechanical sub-systems
- Hand over designs to manufacturing
- Own CAD design of Machine Handling Systems
- Own CAD design of robotic end-effectors
- Lead concept reviews with stakeholders
- Lead design reviews with stakeholders
- Define prototype test protocols
- Execute prototype test protocols
- Iterate designs based on empirical data
- Iterate designs based on failure analysis
- Co-develop hardware-software interfaces with Automation and Software teams
- Ensure product designs are optimized for robot operations
- Develop technical documentation
- Maintain technical documentation
- Support IP development with technical documentation
- Support institutional knowledge with technical documentation
- Contribute to technical specifications for RFQs
- Contribute to technical specifications for RFPs
- Contribute to technical specifications for supplier engagement
- Support sourcing decisions with engineering rigour
- Support transition of validated designs from R&D to production
- Identify opportunities for design innovation
- Improve throughput on the disassembly line
- Improve safety on the disassembly line
- Improve material yield on the disassembly line
- Improve maintainability on the disassembly line
