- Compile requirements
- Design detailed aircraft parts
- Design production aids, jigs, tools, and molds
- Consider manufacturability of parts and assemblies
- Create drawings and work instructions
- Teach production planned processes
- Build prototypes of parts and assemblies
- Test prototypes of parts and assemblies
- Analyze preliminary aircraft design
- Calculate loads, stress, balance, and weight
- Analyze flight mechanics and aerodynamics
- Calculate power consumption
- Create assembly structure and PLM system
- Maintain assembly structure and PLM system
- Coordinate design loops with departments, suppliers, and manufacturers
- Order parts for prototypes and preliminary production
