- Familiarity with ClickHouse in production environments
- Familiarity with Cassandra/Scylla in production environments
- Solid backend engineering background
- Go programming language preferred
- Strong programming language skills
- Familiarity with Kotlin/JVM is a plus
- Track record of turning database best practices into opinionated standards
- Cloud-native mindset
- Hands-on with Kubernetes
- Hands-on with IaC tooling
- Running production workloads on AWS or equivalent
- Proven ability to define technical strategy
- Proven ability to drive cross-team initiatives end-to-end
- Proven ability to hold self and others accountable to outcomes
- Ability to contribute to architectural decisions
- Ability to clearly communicate trade-offs to engineers and leadership

- Set criteria for database adoption
- Govern the database technology portfolio
- Define database contract with product teams
- Set standards for product engineer database interaction
- Define schema governance and migration patterns
- Establish connection pooling and query performance standards
- Build tooling for effortless database interaction
- Own platform operations end to end
- Set operational bar for database platform
- Define on-call practices and incident response standards
- Define long-term database platform strategy
- Drive cross-team initiatives from kickoff to delivery
- Align database infrastructure with broader goals
