Data Services Engineer/Architect(m/w/x)

Beschreibung

In this role, you will enhance the accessibility and impact of EMBL's data services by developing strategies for cataloging and harmonizing resources, while also providing training and support to users across the scientific community.

Anforderungen

• •Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related technical field
• •Strong understanding of software engineering best practices
• •Experience developing web applications using frameworks such as Vue.js or Angular
• •Professional experience developing web services/interfaces/APIs for external users
• •Good knowledge of API documentation frameworks like OpenAPI or Swagger
• •Hands-on experience with cloud deployment and services
• •Strong communication skills
• •PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics or related field
• •Experience in the development and implementation of community standards for computational services
• •Experience in life cycle management of software products or computational services
• •Experience in working in open-source projects
• •Experience in training and writing efficient user documentation
• •Ability to work independently and as a team player, user/community oriented, open-minded and creative
• •Fluency in English
• •Willingness to travel regularly

Aufgaben

• •Develop strategies to catalog and harmonize EMBL data services
• •Promote data services for optimal accessibility
• •Interact with data service providers across EMBL sites
• •Maintain existing service catalogs across EMBL sites
• •Expose services to the scientific community via web, APIs, and AI interfaces
• •Contribute to service impact monitoring strategies
• •Manage data service life cycle from conception to sunsetting
• •Provide training for service providers and users
• •Contribute to projects like Bio.tools
