In this role, you will engage in vital radiation protection studies, focusing on the operations and upgrades of the Large Hadron Collider. Your work will involve simulations, data validation, and sharing findings through reports and presentations.

Anforderungen

• •Basic knowledge of radiation physics and protection principles
• •Experience or strong knowledge with Monte Carlo simulation codes for radiation transport (preferably with FLUKA)
• •Knowledge of a programming language (ideally Python)
• •Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
• •Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• •Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language
• •Maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Physics or Energy/Nuclear Engineering (or a related field)
• •Work in Radiation Areas
• •Interventions in underground installations
• •A valid driving licence

Aufgaben

• •Perform radiation protection studies using the FLUKA Monte Carlo particle transport code
• •Estimate residual radiation levels during interventions
• •Compute activation of beam line components using the ActiWiz tool
• •Focus on collimation insertion regions for radiation protection studies
• •Conduct studies for the upgrade of the SND and FASER experiments
• •Validate Monte Carlo simulation results with existing data analysis scripts and radiation measurements
• •Regularly report findings to your supervisor
• •Produce reports and technical notes
• •Present work in project meetings
• •Share scientific results at conferences and in publications
