In this role, you will engage in Monte Carlo radiation transport studies and collaborate with engineers and physicists to design effective radiation shielding solutions, ensuring the safety and efficiency of the FCC-ee experimental insertions.

Anforderungen

• •Knowledge of particle-matter interactions
• •Experience with Monte Carlo radiation transport simulations
• •Proficiency in scientific computing
• •Knowledge of accelerator physics
• •Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary and international team environment
• •Knowledge of Monte Carlo radiation transport codes (FLUKA, Geant4, etc.)
• •Basic programming skills (e.g. Python, C++) for data analysis and code development
• •Familiarity with numerical methods and scientific computing
• •Problem-solving mindset and ability to learn new tools quickly
• •Excellent team-working attitude
• •Good level of both spoken and written English

• •Perform Monte Carlo radiation transport studies
• •Quantify radiation exposure of machine components
• •Contribute to the design of shielding solutions
• •Optimize shielding for final focus quadrupoles
• •Conduct radiation background studies for experiments
• •Carry out particle-matter interaction studies with FLUKA
• •Implement geometry models for FCC-ee machine studies
• •Assess expected radiation levels from beam losses
• •Evaluate synchrotron radiation emission in experimental insertions
• •Collaborate with beam physicists on particle tracking studies
• •Participate in the conceptual design of radiation shielding assemblies
• •Work with mechanical engineers to develop shielding concepts
