Mechanical Design Engineer – Propulsion Battery System(m/w/x)
Mechanical design of thermal runaway mitigation for electric microliner battery packs at a zero-emission regional flight developer. 5+ years mechanical design experience, preferably in aerospace or battery systems, required. Subsidized EGYM Wellpass membership, subsidized lunch, flexible schedule.
Anforderungen
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering
- 5+ years experience in mechanical design and development (preferably aerospace, automotive, battery systems, or high-performance engineering)
- Strong 3D CAD-based mechanical design experience
- Experience designing structural components, enclosures, or integrated mechanical hardware
- Working knowledge of FEA methods and tools (Abaqus, Ansys, COMSOL, or similar)
- Familiarity with materials and processes (metals, composites, joining, sealing, manufacturing)
- Understanding of design for manufacturing and assembly
- Beneficial experience with battery or electric propulsion systems
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Technical curiosity
- Attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering environment
- Fluent English language skills (essential)
- Beneficial German language skills
Aufgaben
- Develop mechanical designs for propulsion battery pack hardware.
- Create 3D CAD models and detailed drawings.
- Maintain configuration-controlled design data.
- Support mechanical integration of electrical and electronic hardware.
- Develop thermal runaway mitigation and integrated thermal safety features.
- Select metals and composites for battery components.
- Define joining methods and sealing technologies.
- Evaluate manufacturing approaches for battery production.
- Apply structural and thermomechanical analysis methods.
- Validate mechanical design concepts.
- Collaborate on consistent interface definition.
- Collaborate on technically sound integration solutions.
- Support DFMA activities with the Battery Production team.
- Support prototype builds, integration, and testing.
- Resolve mechanical design issues during manufacturing and validation.
- Prepare engineering documentation and design descriptions.
- Provide inputs for certification documentation.
