Senior Constellation Manager, Europe(m/w/x)
Managing satellite constellation initiatives for the EMEA region, aligning local mission nuances with global vision. 10+ years space systems development and LEO satellite operations expertise required. 4-day work week, company car for private use.
Requirements
- 10+ years space systems development, management, operations
- Deep expertise in LEO satellite operations, satellite design, mission success delivery
- Knowledge of tasking business models and remote sensing technology
- Operate effectively and decisively with minimal guidance and autonomy
- Make decisions aligning with Planet's technical, strategic roadmap, and core values
- Willingness to hold ambiguity and risk, make decisions for executing teams
- Excellent interpersonal skills for team alignment delivery and maintenance
- Ability to travel within Europe as needed and to California 2-3 times per year
- Maintain high availability during California workday for meetings and collaboration
- Demonstrated success in developing, managing, or operating large satellite constellations
- Expertise in leading and delivering major corporate initiatives via cross-departmental teams
- Proactive management and mitigation of program risk for space programs
- Ability to access U.S. and German/EU export-controlled information without additional licensing
Tasks
- Steer initiatives for CxS business line in EMEA
- Ensure program success and customer needs alignment
- Bridge local EMEA mission nuances with global vision
- Maintain alignment with Pelicans commercial and technical roadmap
- Represent the program to senior leadership and company
- Collaborate with Space Business Group leadership
- Lead, manage, and hire the core program team
- Develop and maintain cross-company program priorities
- Address blockers to program progress
- Manage overall program risk
- Balance risk across engineering, launch, and operations
- Satisfy program-level requirements
- Facilitate requirement changes between customer and Planet
- Support Systems Engineering in internal requirement flow
- Maintain clear view of program schedule and risks
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams
- Develop and apply standard financial practices
- Act as Planet’s ambassador to partners, customers, and press
