Requirements
- University degree in Physics, Optics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
- Experience in optical systems or photonics
- Several years of experience in partner-facing technical roles
- Experience in high-tech or B2B environment
- Solid understanding of optical or optoelectronic systems
- Ability to discuss system architectures, interfaces, and performance trade-offs
- Proven track record managing cross-functional collaboration
- Experience in requirements management, specification alignment, and validation planning
- Structured, hands-on working style
- Ability to navigate ambiguity
- Ability to derive scalable processes, documentation, and standards
- Strong communication skills
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Ability to translate technical content into clear recommendations
- Very good English skills
- German language skills
- Willingness to work in an international, cross-site environment
Tasks
- Act as primary technical interface between ZEISS and external partners
- Evaluate and coordinate partner-related technical topics
- Steer requirements, interfaces, specifications, and validation concepts
- Support joint development and co-innovation projects
- Translate partner capabilities and roadmaps into optical concepts
- Drive structured issue management and escalation
- Turn technical challenges into scalable, long-term solutions
- Provide insights into ZEISS optical roadmaps and platform strategies
- Contribute to make-or-buy decisions and technology scouting
- Collaborate with R&D, Product Management, Procurement, Quality, and Operations
- Align technical partner strategies with cost, quality, and time-to-market targets
