  • Master's in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering and PhD or intent to obtain PhD
  • Thorough understanding of heat engine thermodynamics and fuel cell systems
  • Relevant experience in aircraft propulsion conceptual design or performance calculation
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
  • Good programming skills (e.g. MATLAB, Python)
  • Willingness to familiarize with new topics and tools
  • Interest in multidisciplinary, target-oriented tasks
  • Proficiency in German and English

Tasks

  • Understand revolutionary propulsion systems for future aircraft designs
  • Incubate innovative propulsion ideas with technical creativity
  • Develop methods for conceptual design and performance simulation of advanced motive power solutions
  • Evaluate the impact of propulsion technologies on climate change
  • Integrate perspectives of aircraft architects and propulsion specialists in project work
  • Conduct joint projects on advanced aircraft and propulsion system design with industrial partners and research institutions
