Quantitative Gas Analyst(m/w/x)
Developing quantitative models for gas and LNG pricing, enhancing supply/demand forecasts, and constructing statistical models for trading signals. 2-5 years of experience in a quantitative role with Python or R proficiency required. Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in quantitative discipline
- 2–5 years experience in quantitative/analytical role
- Strong proficiency in Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) or R
- Solid understanding of natural gas or LNG market fundamentals
- Experience with statistical modelling, time series analysis, regression
- Proficiency in SQL and working with large datasets
- Strong communication skills, clear and concise analysis presentation
- Experience with machine learning in energy/commodity markets
- Familiarity with gas trading instruments
- Knowledge of European or Asian gas market structures/benchmarks
- Experience with Bloomberg, Platts, or ICIS data platforms
- Exposure to risk management frameworks
- Analytical rigour and attention to detail
- Commercial awareness and curiosity about energy markets
- Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities
- Collaborative mindset and strong stakeholder management
- Proactive, self-motivated, and intellectually curious
Tasks
- Develop and maintain quantitative models for gas and LNG pricing
- Enhance fundamental supply/demand models for key gas markets
- Construct statistical and econometric models for trading signals
- Develop tools for scenario and stress testing of gas positions
- Monitor global gas and LNG market developments
- Analyze supply/demand balances, storage levels, and weather impacts
- Produce regular market reports and ad hoc analysis
- Track macroeconomic and energy policy developments
- Source and clean large datasets from data providers
- Automate data pipelines and reporting workflows
- Integrate analytical outputs into trading systems
- Collaborate with gas traders to understand commercial needs
- Translate commercial needs into quantitative frameworks
- Present findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Support risk management with exposure analysis
- Provide mark-to-market reporting
