Requirements

  • PhD in human geography, environmental governance, political science, or related social science
  • Experience in disaster risk reduction or climate adaptation
  • Strong command of qualitative methods (policy analysis, interviews, focus groups)
  • Hands-on fieldwork experience in complex socio-environmental contexts
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Academic writing track record
  • Confident presentation skills
  • Knowledge of Italian, French, Spanish, or Greek
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Interdisciplinary international research environment experience

Tasks

  • Lead field research in 2 of 4 case study sites
  • Conduct desk research on policy and legislative documents
  • Perform semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions
  • Analyze governance of habitability through planned relocation
  • Examine policies, institutions, decision-making practices, power dynamics, and knowledge systems
  • Build the ALTHAEA Learning Hub knowledge exchange platform
  • Connect researchers, policymakers, and practitioners globally
  • Consolidate relevant knowledge and experiences on the project website
  • Produce high-quality scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Contribute to project deliverables and research outputs
  • Translate field findings into rigorous, impactful research
  • Present methods and results to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Initiate and organize conference sessions and workshops
