Requirements

  • •Master's studies or close to completion in Thermal Engineering, Sustainable Energy Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Technical Physics, or related field
  • •Good skills in modelling and simulation (Modelica/Dymola, COMSOL Multiphysics)
  • •Very good understanding of thermal energy storage and heat transfer processes
  • •First experience in data acquisition and sensor-based measurements would be a plus
  • •Good competence in experimental work (design, evaluation)
  • •High commitment and ability to work individually and in a multi-disciplinary team
  • •Strong interest in experimental work and willingness to collaborate with industrial and scientific partners
  • •Interest in reading and writing scientific publications and application-oriented research questions from industry
  • •Very good command of English (spoken and written)

Education

Master's degree
OR
Currently in higher education

Work Experience

approx. 1 - 4 years

Tasks

  • •Conduct laboratory-scale tests on storage media
  • •Design, construct, and operate an upscaled SMTES prototype
  • •Evaluate storage envelope and insulation performance
  • •Support data acquisition and sensor setup
  • •Develop 3D coupled thermo-hydraulic-(mechanical) models
  • •Perform system-level simulations to analyze heat and moisture transport
