Requirements

  • Enrollment in Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software
  • Experience with FEM/FEA software for structural and thermal analysis
  • Familiarity with space hardware manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of materials science for space applications
  • Understanding of space systems engineering and product development lifecycles (plus)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
  • High motivation and interest in space exploration and ISRU
  • Fluency in English and knowledge of German (plus)

Tasks

  • Develop conceptual and detailed mechanical designs
  • Refine subsystems like structural elements and robotic interfaces
  • Design thermal management and sample handling mechanisms
  • Optimize designs for manufacturing and space assembly
  • Research and select materials for lunar environments
  • Develop and test prototypes for critical components
  • Generate comprehensive design documentation and analysis reports
  • Present technical findings to the project team
  • Create a modular product portfolio for future missions
