Mechanical System Engineer Master Student(m/w/x)
Mechanical design for lunar environment subsystems, optimizing robotic interfaces and thermal management at a global aerospace manufacturer. Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Mechatronics Engineering required. 35-hour week and flexitime offered.
Requirements
- Enrollment in Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field
- Strong proficiency in CAD software
- Experience with FEM/FEA software for structural and thermal analysis
- Familiarity with space hardware manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of materials science for space applications
- Understanding of space systems engineering and product development lifecycles (plus)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and presentation abilities
- Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
- High motivation and interest in space exploration and ISRU
- Fluency in English and knowledge of German (plus)
Tasks
- Develop conceptual and detailed mechanical designs
- Refine subsystems like structural elements and robotic interfaces
- Design thermal management and sample handling mechanisms
- Optimize designs for manufacturing and space assembly
- Research and select materials for lunar environments
- Develop and test prototypes for critical components
- Generate comprehensive design documentation and analysis reports
- Present technical findings to the project team
- Create a modular product portfolio for future missions
