Machine Learning Scientist(m/w/x)
Developing novel ML/DL methods for medical image analysis in cancer care. PhD in ML/medical image analysis and strong publication record required. Meaningful equity, outsized influence, remote-first work.
Requirements
- PhD in machine learning, computer vision, medical image analysis, biomedical engineering, or related field
- Strong publication record in relevant venues (medical imaging, clinical ML, computer vision)
- Experience structuring and executing research collaborations with academic and clinical institutions
- Deep expertise in deep learning architectures for image analysis (CNNs, transformers, U-Nets)
- Strong programming skills in Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch preferred)
- Experience with medical imaging data (PET/CT, MRI, or similar modalities)
- Strong statistical foundations (experimental design, hypothesis testing, survival analysis, clinical biostatistics)
- Experience with nuclear medicine imaging & dosimetry (PSMA-PET, FDG-PET, SPECT)
- Expertise in treatment outcome prediction, survival analysis, or longitudinal modeling
- Experience with multi-modal data integration (imaging + clinical + genomic)
- Familiarity with clinical trial design and regulatory evidence requirements
- Prior industry experience translating research into deployed products
- Experience with graph neural networks, molecular representations, or drug-response modeling
- Experience with Generative AI in medical domain
Tasks
- Develop novel ML/DL methods for medical image analysis
- Apply ML/DL to segmentation and lesion detection
- Implement longitudinal tracking methods
- Predict treatment response
- Model treatment outcomes
- Design and conduct experiments
- Evaluate new approaches against clinical baselines
- Benchmark methods against state-of-the-art

- Propose research directions for product goals
- Propose research directions for scientific goals
- Publish findings in top-tier venues
- Represent Nucs AI at scientific conferences
- Collaborate with clinicians and medical physicists
- Ensure clinical grounding of methods
- Produce validated research outputs
- Document performance benchmarks
- Provide clear handoff specifications for engineering
- Contribute to clinical validation studies
- Generate evidence for regulatory submissions
- Collaborate with external academic partners on joint studies
- Support scientific diligence with pharma partners
- Support scientific diligence with clinical partners
- Contribute to Nucs AI's scientific credibility
