Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in mining engineering, geology, mineral economics, or related field with specialization in responsible mining, sustainability in extractives, or industrial development
  • Minimum three years professional experience (mining, extractive, process industry, or related)
  • Experience in implementing or advising ESG standards, responsible industry practices, or sustainability frameworks (mining/extractive industry desirable)
  • Experience in technical cooperation projects in developing countries (Africa, Asia, or Latin America desirable)
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Fluency or working knowledge of another official UN language (desirable)
  • Spoken and written knowledge of Finnish or Swedish
  • Finnish nationality

Tasks

  • Manage technical cooperation projects in mining.
  • Focus on responsible mining, ASM, and large-scale operations.
  • Ensure project quality, timeliness, and budget compliance.
  • Engage private sector stakeholders for ESG best practices.
  • Develop mining worker upskilling and reskilling programs.
  • Prepare technical documents on sustainable mining.
  • Prepare policy briefs on responsible mining practices.
  • Prepare knowledge products on mineral value chains.
  • Support advocacy, communication, and global forum activities.
  • Engage with media.
  • Disseminate project information via UNIDO platforms.
  • Contribute to program-specific fundraising.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Represent the Division in the Global Alliance.
  • Address Responsible and Green Minerals topics.
