Requirements

  • Degree or training in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Several years of practical system administration and IT support experience
  • Linux, Windows, macOS administration, focus on Linux servers
  • Strong scripting and automation knowledge (Shell, Python)
  • Content management systems experience (ideally Typo3), basic web programming (PHP)
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Teamwork, structured and independent work style
  • Excellent German (C1) and good English (B2) written and spoken
  • Advanced web programming (HTML, PHP) and web frameworks (Laravel)
  • Samba, Active Directory, or similar directory services, workload managers (Slurm)
  • Virtualization, container technologies, or monitoring solutions experience
  • Interest in and experience collaborating with research groups
  • Knowledge of high-level programming languages (C/C++, Python)
  • Support in conducting experimental studies

Tasks

  • Purchase and manage hardware and software
  • Manage web server and network documentation
  • Develop and maintain internal IT infrastructure
  • Collaborate with faculty technicians on central IT
  • Procure and replace hardware and software
  • Assist with bid solicitation and evaluation
  • Install and maintain PC workstations (Windows, Linux, MacOS)
  • Administer Linux servers (web, file, workload managers)
  • Support network administration
  • Provide first-level technical support
  • Handle complex technical issues
  • Maintain and develop the website (CMS-based systems)
  • Develop small internal web applications (PHP)
  • Manage faculty-wide IT infrastructure
