Head of Avionics, Electrics & EWIS(m/w/x)
Leading a 20+ engineer department, defining strategy for next-gen aircraft electrical and wiring systems. 15 years in aircraft development across at least 2 programs required. Work on cutting-edge aircraft technology.
Requirements
- Engineering degree in Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related area
- At least 15 years of professional experience in relevant fields of aircraft development
- Wide proficiency of latest certification requirements and aircraft system design approaches
- Proven background in new aircraft development or aircraft maintenance for at least 2 different aircraft programs
- Excellent knowledge of air legislation, quality management, configuration management and safety aspects for new aircraft development
- Proven disciplinary leadership experience of at least 10 years in a similar area
- Experience in strategy and organization development
- Strong team building, motivation and excellent communication skills
- Pro-active and solution-oriented working style
Tasks
- Develop and lead the Avionics, Electrics & EWIS department with over 20 engineers
- Implement department strategy aligned with company and directorate targets
- Identify internal and external competence needs and select strategic engineering service providers
- Define department sub-structures, including roles and responsibilities
- Conduct regular workforce and workload planning based on program needs
- Adjust workforce in accordance with agreed headcount targets
- Plan all program and project deliverables, reassigning workforce as needed for OTOCOQ delivery
- Monitor work progress using KPIs and manage risks with appropriate mitigations
- Identify and develop high-potential employees for future management and expert roles
- Ensure engineers receive adequate training for timely program milestone delivery
- Nominate sufficient DREs and CVEs for all ATA chapters within the department
- Act as a coach for high-potential employees and assign mentors to new engineers
- Define a training curriculum for new engineers in the department
- Establish development processes and procedures for Avionics, Electrics & EWIS as per regulations
- Maintain and update development processes in line with evolving certification standards
- Identify and promote opportunities for digitalization and automation of development processes
