Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, biology, pharmacy, or related science
  • Minimum 8 years pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably in technical development; minimum 5 years leadership experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years project management excellence in technical development (e.g., CMC project leader, senior line function) or equivalent
  • Proven track record leading interdisciplinary teams (scientists, technical/methodological projects, budget control) in Technical R&D or equivalent
  • Proactive work ethic and strategic thinking, including assessing business impact of technical decisions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, building trust, influencing cross-functional areas, stakeholder management
  • Excellent English (oral & written)
  • Doctorate in relevant natural science and experience in technical project management

Tasks

  • Lead and manage technical development activities for assigned projects
  • Represent TRD on global project teams
  • Define global CMC strategy for product development
  • Lead CMC teams with strategic focus and quality awareness
  • Act as TRD representative in complex projects with external partners
  • Lead the establishment of a CMC project strategy
  • Include risk assessments and contingency planning
  • Ensure alignment with internal and external departments
  • Drive endorsement of CMC project strategy by Novartis boards
  • Communicate project strategy, risks, and issues to management
  • Ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Manage cross-functional aspects of assigned projects
  • Lead CMC subteams in a matrix organization
  • Build strong team spirit and promote knowledge exchange
  • Align project objectives and priorities with team members
  • Support in- and out-licensing of projects
  • Shape global technical development strategy for post-due diligence projects
