Description

As a Cryogenics Engineer, you will design and build advanced cryogenic systems while ensuring safety and compliance. This role involves hands-on experimentation, collaboration with teams, and leading projects to support fusion energy development.

Requirements

• •3–5 years designing cryogenic systems, vacuum setups, or gas-handling equipment
• •MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
• •Proficiency in CAD, thermal/cryogenic simulation, and vacuum technology
• •Familiarity with hydrogen systems, pressure control, leak detection, and gas safety protocols
• •Skilled in instrumentation, sensors, and control logic for temperature, pressure, and flow
• •Strong hands-on skills in building test rigs, debugging systems, and performing low-temperature measurements
• •Comfortable working across disciplines and coordinating with multiple engineering and science teams

Tasks

• •Develop and build cryogenic and vacuum systems
• •Model thermal behavior using CAD and simulation tools
• •Ensure cooling performance and optimize system design
• •Continuously improve experimental setups for low-temperature material assessment
• •Develop safe gas handling procedures for hydrogen
• •Implement measurement, control, and automation systems for cryogenic processes
• •Collaborate with Targetry sub-teams to define system requirements
• •Lead project workstreams from concept to commissioning
• •Mentor junior engineers and manage project timelines
