Anforderungen
- Second German law degree (2. Staatsexamen)
- Legal assistance experience for refugees/asylum-seekers in Germany (family reunification preferred)
- Knowledge of European/German refugee/human rights law
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience interviewing and counseling clients legally
- Highly organized and flexible
- Ability to multitask and manage high workload
- Excellent time management skills
- Sensitivity to client empowerment
- Experience working with diverse backgrounds (LGBTQI, trauma survivors)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Excellent German communication skills
- Excellent English communication skills
- Skills in other languages (Arabic, Farsi, French, Somali, Swedish, Tigrinya) are a plus
Aufgaben
- Directly represent clients in family reunification and humanitarian visa cases to Germany
- Conduct intake interviews and research for client cases
- Develop case strategies
- Inform clients of their rights and applicable procedures
- Draft submissions for client cases
- Ensure follow-up and advocacy with adjudicating bodies
- Collaborate with partner NGOs and German lawyers on family reunification cases
- Coordinate cases and advocacy work with partners
- Maintain detailed and accurate records for all cases
- Stay updated on legislative and caselaw developments in family reunification and asylum law
- Participate in drafting legal manuals and pro se guides
- Provide training to legal practitioners
- Provide guidance to staff and volunteers on German family reunification cases
- Participate in team strategic work, including organizing workshops and publications
