Anforderungen
- University degree in Quantitative Ecology, Computational Biology, Biogeography, Statistics, Environmental Sciences, Applied Systems Science, or comparable quantitative discipline
- Strong background in ecological modelling approaches, particularly species distribution models (SDMs), occupancy models, or comparable biodiversity modelling approaches
- Excellent analytical skills and strong programming proficiency in R
- Proven experience with biodiversity, environmental, or heterogeneous spatial datasets, including GIS-based spatial analyses
- Proven experience with reproducible scientific workflows, version control (e.g. Git), and FAIR data management principles
- Experience in Research Software Engineering desirable
- Strong interest in ecological model integration, quality assurance, and stewardship
- Experience with or strong interest in animal population modelling desirable
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Aufgaben
- Co-develop, implement, and advance ecological modelling approaches for bird diversity analysis and forecasting
- Develop reproducible ecological modelling and analysis workflows for biodiversity indicators and scenario analyses
- Lead model integration, validation, documentation, and quality assurance
- Manage long-term model stewardship
- Collaborate with Research Software Engineers to integrate ecological models into analysis environments and infrastructures
- Contribute to developing sustainable scientific data products from modelling outputs
- Translate complex modelling outputs into actionable information for stakeholders
- Work closely with ecologists, data scientists, and project partners to improve the modelling landscape
