- Diploma or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related area
- Good programming skills (e.g. Python, C/C++)
- Good knowledge in optical transmission technologies and optical fiber effects
- Laboratory experience in optical sub-system and system characterization
- Experience in coherent optical transmission and optical modulation
- Experience in optical amplification and switching
- Experience in monitoring of signal quality in an optical network
- Good presentation and communication skills
- Innovative, highly motivated personality
- Fluent oral and written English language skills, fluency in German is a plus
- Capability to think strategic, innovative, constructive and application oriented
Aufgaben
- Conduct research on optical transmission systems and distributed fiber sensing
- Set up experimental assemblies in the laboratory
- Perform experiments in optical communication technology
- Organize laboratory operations
- Collaborate with national and international project partners
- Lead internal subprojects for research and development
- Apply knowledge in technologies for increasing optical communication capacity
- Develop amplifier setups for new applications
- Implement techniques for monitoring signal quality in optical networks
- Integrate joint data communication with distributed fiber sensing
