- PhD or equivalent in economics, finance, environmental engineering, or related field with climate adaptation/hazard management background
- MA/MSc or equivalent in economics, finance, environmental engineering, or related field with climate adaptation/hazard management background
- PhD or equivalent in related field with minimum 1 year relevant experience
- MA/MSc or equivalent in related field with 5 years relevant experience in research/academia in climate change adaptation, risk analytics, or climate finance
- Proven research experience in climate risk analytics
- Strong programming skills in Python or other languages
- Familiarity with UN or other international institutions
- Proven track record in research and scientific publications
- Strong project management skills with broad stakeholder range
- Ability to explain complex processes to non-expert audiences
- Initiative seeker with interest in quantitative climate risk analysis and climate finance
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Ability to lead a small team of experts
- PhD in a relevant topic is an asset
- Previous experience with CLIMADA/ECA is an asset
- Good understanding/experience in disaster risk reduction/management and climate change adaptation is an asset
- Experience in proposal writing and methodological framework design in development cooperation and actor coordination is an asset
- Work experience in developing countries is an asset
- Fluency in English required
- Knowledge of German is an asset
- Knowledge of another UN official working language is an asset
Aufgaben
- Lead research and knowledge dissemination on CLIMADA modelling
- Drive innovation in CLIMADA modelling approaches
- Coordinate calibration and validation of CLIMADA methods
- Ensure rigorous optimization for context-specific use cases
- Bridge advanced modeling efforts with project management
- Align modeling outputs with strategic objectives and stakeholder needs
- Integrate modeling results into project planning and monitoring
- Facilitate communication between modeling teams and external partners
- Support project design and management with calibrated models
- Develop tools and workflows for operationalizing modeling results
- Support capacity-building for project teams
- Co-develop new project activities for UNU-EHS
- Support proposal writing for climate risk analytics
- Establish and maintain stakeholder networks
- Lead and co-author scientific publications
- Supervise MSc theses on relevant topics
- Contribute to MSc-level teaching
- Represent the organization at climate risk events
- Perform other duties as assigned
