- Deep PostgreSQL expertise
- Strong opinions on replication, sharding, backup, upgrades, security
- Postgres automation and lifecycle tooling experience
- Solid backend engineering background
- Go programming language preferred
- Strong programming language skills
- Kotlin/JVM familiarity is a plus
- Turning database best practices into adoptable standards
- Cloud-native mindset
- Hands-on Kubernetes experience
- Hands-on IaC tooling experience
- Running production workloads on AWS or equivalent
- Ability to drive cross-team initiatives
- Clear communication of architectural trade-offs
- Flexible hybrid work setup
- 2-3 days a week in office

- Run PostgreSQL at scale
- Ensure reliability and uptime of PostgreSQL clusters
- Design for high availability
- Engineer for resilience
- Ensure near-zero downtime during maintenance, upgrades, and failures
- Build the database platform
- Automate the full operational lifecycle of databases
- Automate database provisioning
- Automate database configuration
- Automate database upgrades
- Automate database scaling
- Automate database backup
- Turn manual database operations into self-service workflows
- Define database standards
- Embed database standards into the platform
- Own the platform end to end
- Participate in the on-call rotation
- Shape the roadmap for the database platform
- Drive cross-team initiatives
- Align the database platform with engineering goals
- Align the database platform with business goals
