Linux System Administrator(m/w/x)
Administering Red Hat-based Linux systems for space missions, including patching and troubleshooting. 3+ years of Linux administration experience required. Mission-critical space operations environment, supporting ESA spacecraft.
Anforderungen
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or related field, or 7 years of relevant professional experience
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience
- Professional English proficiency (written and spoken)
- Eligibility for security and export control clearances (ITAR/EIR)
- Strong Linux systems administration experience (RedHat-based)
- Knowledge of additional Unix-like systems (BSD, Solaris) is advantageous
- Solid software development skills in Linux (C++, Python, or shell)
- Ability to support technical users in complex engineering environments
- Experience assisting developers with build, debugging, and environment issues
- Experience in specific advantageous areas
- Infrastructure automation, configuration management, IaC tools (Ansible, CI/CD)
- Linux networking, system security, hardening, authentication, vulnerability management (SELinux, FreeIPA/LDAP)
- Storage, filesystem, distributed storage technologies (ZFS)
- Virtualization, container technologies, high-availability platforms
- Enterprise and mission-critical operational environments support
- Scientific or engineering computing environments experience
- Familiarity with enterprise server hardware and out-of-band management
- Unix operating systems (FreeBSD, Solaris)
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work autonomously in operational environments
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work under pressure during operational activities
- Strong service-oriented mindset
- Proactive attitude toward innovation and continuous improvement
- Ability to quickly adapt to evolving technologies and operational requirements
- Availability for critical mission activities and occasional work outside normal hours
- Participation in on-call support rotation may be required
- On-site performance at customer premises (ESOC) with occasional teleworking
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain security and export control clearances (ITAR/EIR)

- Administer Linux systems, including installation, patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Develop, test, and maintain supporting tools, scripts, and system software components
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot complex issues
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Support developers with build, debugging, and software environment issues
- Implement infrastructure automation and configuration management using tools like Ansible
- Manage Linux networking, system security, and hardening
- Handle storage technologies, including ZFS and distributed storage systems
- Work with virtualization, container technologies, and high-availability platforms
- Support mission-critical operational environments and space mission systems
- Assist in scientific and engineering computing environments
- Manage enterprise server hardware and out-of-band management systems
- Work autonomously and under pressure during operational activities
- Participate in on-call support rotation for continuous operational coverage
- Adapt to evolving technologies and operational requirements
- Support critical mission activities, launch campaigns, simulations, and system tests
- Collaborate with an international team of engineers and space operations specialists
