Anforderungen
- Initial mechanical assembly, fitting, or maintenance experience
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, blueprints, and 2D/3D CAD models
- Initial conventional machining techniques and workshop practices experience
- Basic metrology skills, including use of calipers, gauges, and dimensional inspection tools
- Awareness of occupational health and safety principles
- Follow technical procedures, assembly instructions, and work specifications
- Use of standard hand and power tools for mechanical operations
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Rigorous, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious approach
- Accurately document completed work and maintain high quality standards
- Spoken and written English or French, learn basics of other language
- National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State
- Maximum two years professional experience since graduation in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before
- Not eligible for Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree holders
- Work in Radiation Areas
- Interventions in underground installations
- Valid driving licence
- Exposure to risk of falling from heights
- Obtain medical clearance before contract offer confirmation
Aufgaben
- Participate in ATLAS detector movements
- Install access platforms in experimental cavern
- Support sub-detector installation
- Handle and transport sub-detectors
- Position sub-detectors using lifting and alignment techniques
- Prepare and set up work areas
- Set up tooling for detector interventions
- Provide logistical support for detector work
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Perform basic dimensional checks
- Report progress to supervising engineers
- Manufacture parts using conventional machining
- Drill, mill, and turn parts as needed
