Developing web applications for archiving and publishing research outputs on a new digital platform. Python, React, and PostgreSQL experience required. 30 days paid leave, CERN Pension Fund membership.

Anforderungen

  • Python and web application development (e.g., Flask)
  • Basic JavaScript and modern web interfaces (e.g., React)
  • Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git
  • Clear, maintainable code writing and learning new technologies
  • Experience with relational databases, such as PostgreSQL
  • Familiarity with search or indexing technologies, such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch
  • Exposure to container technologies, such as Docker, and container platforms (e.g., OpenShift)
  • Experience contributing to or working with open-source software projects
  • Python, Flask, JavaScript, React, Git skills required
  • PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch skills advantageous
  • Docker, OpenShift skills advantageous
  • Experience working on open source projects advantageous
  • Spoken and written English, commitment to learn French
  • National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State
  • Maximum two years post-graduation experience, Bachelor's or Master's degree
  • Never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before
  • University degree required

Aufgaben

  • Develop and maintain web applications using Python and React
  • Implement features for archiving, publishing, and sharing research outputs
  • Migrate existing content to a new digital platform
  • Ensure data quality and consistency during migration
  • Write, test, and review code for reliability and performance
  • Collaborate with software engineers and end users to understand requirements
  • Translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Document technical and user solutions
  • Contribute to developer documentation
  • Learn and apply best practices in software engineering
  • Use version control and agile teamwork methods
