- Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience
- Deep understanding of Linux and storage/filesystem architecture (NFS, CephFS)
- Understanding of high availability and failure domains
- Knowledge of POSIX permissions, ACLs, and inheritance
- Knowledge of authentication/authorization concepts (CephX, Kerberos for NFS)
- Proficiency in C/C++, Rust, or Golang
- Good knowledge of Python or shell scripting
- Automation of deployment and testing
- Solid debugging skills for distributed environments
- Performance tuning skills
- Experience diagnosing complex system-wide issues
- DevOps skills (CI/CD, Gitlab, containerisation)
- Monitoring and system observability (Prometheus, Grafana)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Familiarity with NFS-Ganesha
- Familiarity with rsync/rclone
- Familiarity with snapshot replication
- Familiarity with filesystem-native migration tooling
- Familiarity with inotify for change tracking
- Familiarity with bind mounts
- Familiarity with Linux VFS semantics
- Storage systems design
- Application software development
- Knowledge of programming techniques and languages
- Knowledge of storage technologies
- Operation and maintenance of storage systems

- Co-lead management and operations of distributed storage services
- Participate in architecture and design evolution for CERN cloud and compute
- Integrate, troubleshoot, and maintain large-scale distributed storage systems
- Contribute to documentation and development of storage services
- Optimize and automate storage services
- Manage changes and respond to incidents
- Provide user support for storage services
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
